The Center for Veterinary Social Work (CVSW) is an interdisciplinary and interprofessional service-oriented, educationally focused, and research-inspired space.

We are dedicated to achieving excellence in skillfully working across professional silos to attend to the welfare of all species within all systems from micro to macro.

With respectful attention to the values and ethics that govern each profession that enters this interprofessional/interdisciplinary space, the Center follows the competencies set forth in the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) and the Inner Development Goals.

Our mission is to:

  1. Lead and deliver innovative interprofessional education and training
  2. Employ access to care strategies that provide direct services to enhance welfare and well-being for humans and animals
  3. Facilitate connections and collaborative opportunities among social and animal scientists, as well as human and animal welfare professionals and teams
  4. Create and disseminate adaptive, participatory, and transdisciplinary (APT) research and scholarship
