This modules was created for animal related professionals such as veterinarians and veterinary technicians. In this online module, you will learn from two experts in the field of social work—Dr. Pamela Linden and Sandra Brackenridge. This seven-section module contains readings from peer reviewed journals, narrated presentations from both of the speakers, as well as tests for comprehension. Presenter
Dr. Linden earned her MSW (’01) and PhD (’08) from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare. After 10 years administering residential and case management programs for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, Dr. Linden was a a Research Scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute contributing to a study on outcomes of Kendra’s Law. Dr. Linden was a full time Assistant Professor in the SBU School of Social Welfare from 2009-2015. Currently, Dr. Linden is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Stony Brook University School of Health Technology & Management and teaches service learning to Occupational Therapy students. Dr. Linden is the faculty advisor to the first Animal Assisted Therapy Club at Stony Brook University. Dr. Linden completed her VSW service hours at Paumanok Veterinary Hospital in Patchogue, NY. She and her husband, Steve, live on Long Island, NY with their dog, Dove.
This module is available for purchase year-round. This module is a part of the Veterinary Social Work Certificate. Though it is a part of the certificate, you can purchase and complete this course even if you are not enrolled.
